Our Lady Star of the Sea is enlivened by the efforts of our dedicated parents through the Home School Association (HSA). Our HSA is responsible for supporting the principal, faculty and staff in various ways. Such support includes fundraising, running social events and coordinating school activities throughout the year.
At OLSS, the HSA conducts several annual fundraisers. The money earned from these fundraisers stays at OLSS and is utilized in the best interests of our students. An enrichment program designed to complement the curriculum is tailored annually and funded through the HSA. Examples of these programs are as follows:
Gift Wrap
The annual gift wrap sale gives the children the opportunity to sell family and friends gift wrap, magazine subscriptions, and gift items. As was requested by our parents, we are using QSP as our Sale vendor.
Fall Fair
The Fall Fair was the most popular event at OLSS last year. Many families enjoyed a day filled with fun, wholesome activities. Prices for rides and games at Fall Fair range between $1 - $2 and food is available at a low cost.
Election Day Bake Sale
The Election Day Bake Sale provides the opportunity for those voting at OLSS to purchase a snack, including soup, salads, various baked goods, coffee, tea, and other beverages.
Wreath Sale
The Wreath Sale fundraiser makes wreaths and evergreen roping available for your holiday decorating needs.
Book Fair
A very exciting fundraiser for kids and adults alike. The book fair allows for the opportunity for books to be purchased, with proceeds from the sale going to the HSA. During the book fair, OLSS has held the very popular Starlight Story Time. At this event, parents are encouraged to bring their children (in PJs)! The children enjoy stories and a snack while parents have the opportunity to shop.
Basket Raffle
This very popular fundraiser allows for the opportunity for people to win a fabulous basket in a raffle drawing. The baskets are compiled by OLSS families with a themed basket prepared by each grade.
Candy Sale
This yummy fundraiser allows the students of OLSS to sell candy to their family and friends. It is recommended that each family sell at least one box of candy.
Family Fun Night
For a fun evening, OLSS holds a Family Fun Night. Bring your family and friends to this fun evening.
Original Works Art
Treat mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc. to an art masterpiece made by your child. This fundraiser allows your child’s art to be tranformed into fun items for purchase. A brochure detailing items for purchase will be sent home via Wednesday newsletter. Your child’s art work will be sent home in his or her backpack at the start of the fundraiser.
